FILM CLUB

If you are a film enthusiast, this is for you!

Film Club presents diverse films from internationally acclaimed and award-winning directors on a large screen in a friendly community setting.

Sunday 28 January at 7:30pm: Take Care of my Cat

Five young women find their friendship and dreams tested in the fires of post-high school life, an engaging, highly accessible  debut by director Jeong Jae-eun. Set in the grungy port city of Incheon with a focus on the social divisions between the girls, this has a more European flavour than many Korean films.

Sunday 18 February at 7:30pm: The Damned Don’t Cry

Fyzal Boulifa’s highly regarded second feature – an intimate and poignant study of a close mother and son relationship set in Morocco. “Humane, richly involving and powerfully acted by two headliners making their screen debut” (Guardian).

Sunday 17 March at 7:30pm: Le Boucher

Claude Chabrol’s classic film about a school teacher who moves back to a small Perigord village to begin a new job. She meets the town butcher at a wedding. We are led to believe that this is going to be your standard love story but Alfred Hitchcock’s French counterpart has other plans.

Sunday 21 April at 7:30pm: Vincere

Marco Belocchio’s telling of the extraordinary story of Benito Mussolini’s secret mistress and her struggle for recognition. A tragic, timeless tale about a spirited woman’s stubborn devotion to a self-serving man.
