CARA AND KELLY ARE BEST FRIENDS FOREVER FOR LIFE

PRESENTED BY TIGERS, NOT DAUGHTERS
It’s 2013. Cara and Kelly are best friends, now and forever-and-ever-and-ever… until a new face changes everything.

Cara and Kelly are Best Friends Forever For Life is the searing new play from the brilliant mind of Mojola Akinyemi. A darkly comic two-hander that shines an exposing light on the frighteningly subtle yet prevalent racism in this country, through the perspective of two white teenage girls.

It’s 2013. Cara and Kelly are 14 and in the prime of their lives! – Kelly’s smashing it on the netball team. Cara’s certain that love is blossoming with her dream crush. Most importantly, they know they’ll be best friends forever. For life. When things start to go wrong, they know exactly who to blame: a new face who changes everything. But things that once seemed so certain are no longer quite so clear. Cara and Kelly, who’ve never had to doubt each other before, start to question how far they’re willing to go for their friendship.

Blending together elements of comedy, drama, and horror throughout its 1-hour runtime, Cara and Kelly are BFF4L is a play that truly gets inside you. Using elements of the company’s own experiences being young Black girls in majority white schools, it turns that trauma on its head and asks what it means to come of age in a country you feel has left you behind, whether that is true, or not.
