Each gesture tells a story: of love, of land, of past, and of future. Each step embodies Earth and emulates spirit. Each dance contains the wisdom of generation after generation.
In ‘ohana, London School of Hula and ‘Ori will present an array of dances, transporting us across Polynesian islands including Hawai’i, Tahiti, and Samoa, in a show that feels right at home in the heart of London. This is a celebration, a chance to dance with our ancestors and with each other.
The show provides opportunities for the audience to participate in traditional ceremonial practices while creating new improvised rituals together. It will leave its audience feeling joyful, inspired, and connected.
London School of Hula and ‘Ori, an award-winning dance group from London, has created works for Disney, Pitt Rivers Museum, Royal Academy of Arts, British Museum, and many more, and this show bridges together a spectrum of their most coveted pieces.
It is LSHO’s mission to help preserve, perpetuate and promote Polynesian culture within London and beyond, while remaining true to the idea that art, even cultural art, lives, breathes and evolves– remaining rooted but looking to the future.
