Shutters: A Lesbian Rock Opera explores love, lesbian spaces, and the songs that shape our lives.
Shutters follows the career of Saving Liz – a young, idealistic punk rocker singer-songwriter who sets out to “change the world” through music. But when her band can’t seem to give the record producers what they want, she is forced to question the wisdom of being an out lesbian in a patriarchal industry and risks becoming a shelved has-been. Spanning two decades, and set against the backdrop of world events from the 1990s, Shutters explores love, lesbian spaces and the songs that define our lives.
This performance will take place with a live audience at Omnibus Theatre.
