In the second of three ‘home themed’ shows at Omnibus Theatre, Terra Invisus retreat to the most solitary space in their place of residence, the shower. We think of this intimate space with its clinical white tiles and black mould emerging from cracks, as a place of rest and relaxation, of catharsis after our best and worst days. In this space where we may sing, cry, or zone out, a sense of disquiet will be created between player and listener, expanding the possibilities of a trio. For this instalment, Terra Invisus are joined by composer-performer Sara Rahman, and together they will hazily drift between forms, from Sara’s music, to a new Radiohead arrangement, to free improvisation.
Terra Invisus is a contemporary music trio, dedicated to pushing musical and sonic boundaries through free improvisation, and the performance of new works. Comprising of Milda Vitartaitė (piano), Alex Lyon (clarinets), and Rebecca Burden (cello), they explore diverse musical styles to curate unique live performances and collaborations. Terra Invisus’ debut album ‘Visions’, released in April 2024, features new commissions from emerging young UK composers.
Sara Rahman is a British-Algerian interdisciplinary composer, musician and researcher who classically trained in cello and voice. She graduated in 2022 from ESMUC with a Masters in Film Composition. Sara works with voice, electronics, field recordings, found audio, and smaller ensembles as well as large group compositions. She has received commissions from the BBC, Delfina Foundation, Sculpture International Rotterdam, and Sound and Music. She also curates a bimonthly residency on stegi.radio which invites new and exciting artists from the Arab and African diaspora to partake in the idea that ‘music forges communities.’.
