Winter Journey

13 Apr | Doors 7:30pm | £12, £10 concession

‘A young refugee, stuck on a boat in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, is reading what’s left from an old diary: remembering/re-learning his/her own life story.’

Our venture with Winter Journey continues at Omnibus Theatre. Join us for a Beckettian presentation of this audiovisual collage, consisting of refugee memories in their displacement travel to the unknown, songs from Schubert’s Winter Journey, and newly composed music for vintage reel-to-reel tape machines, voices and instruments.

This is our second take on the 7th Metapraxis project (a collaborative venture for our 10th year as an ensemble) performed by Neil Georgeson (piano), Angela Hui (percussion), Ilze Ikse (flutes), and Myrto Loulaki (voice).

Blending with a number of Franz Schubert’s lieder from the song-cycle Winterreise, and with notions from Samuel Beckett’s works Krapp’s Last Tape & Ohio Impromptu, are (existing and newly created) compositions by Lucy Callen, Gregory Emfietzis, Daniel Figols, Christopher Fox, Scott McLaughlin, and Ruta Vitkauskaite, and Winterreise-inspired images by artist Pip Woolf.
