Messy, sharp and painfully funny: DUMP doesn’t shy away from sex, shame, and telling the truth

Longlisted for Live Theatre’s Playwriting Award 2026, Dump is a sizzling new comedy-drama by Alpine Fellowship shortlisted writer Jonny Peyton-Hill. 

Ben collects hookups like loyalty points and his self-esteem is going down the drain. Raihan is only just on his first and fight or flight is rapidly kicking in. When these polar opposites collide, chemistry swerves into full-blown-panic. Add Dawn, Ben’s trainee therapist mam and self-certified gay icon who knows FAR too much, and suddenly everyone is spiralling. 

Between Dawn’s burgeoning therapy practice, Raihan’s identity crisis and Ben’s traumatic past, they must face what they hate about themselves the most. Set in Newcastle-upon-Tyne amidst chaotic dates, intimate hotel meetings and impromptu therapy sessions-an interracial relationship is depicted both blossoming and wilting under the radar.
