ART AT OMNIBUS THEATRE

AZURE
1-31 MAY
A collection of paintings by 6 contemporary artists at Omnibus Theatre.

ALLAN STORER works with oil paint to create textural abstract paintings, that have a vitality and movement of their own.

ANITA KUTSAROVA paints freely on her canvases to create meditative yet colourful abstracts and landscapes.

HENRIE HALDANE creates powerful and atmospheric canvases which are a result of her continual exploration of colour, light and depth.

JOHN ALEXANDER is a fine art photographer known for composing abstract patterns from distressed surfaces encountered on his global travels.

RAKERMAN creates canvases that can easily be interpreted as one or several different identifiable objects, yet at the same time he depicts something the viewer may not recognise at all.

NICOLE ROSE creates oil paintings that explore the emotional response to the natural world around her. She paints abstract and ethereal landscapes, capturing the space between reality and daydream.

MUSIC IN THE CAFÉ BAR

SCHOOL OF DESIRE

School of Desire consists of jazz vocalist Arzu Kibris and her accompanying international group of jazz musicians. The mainstays of the band are:

Pete Lyons (Tenor Saxophone)
Peter Dews (Piano)
Daniele Bortolotti (Electric Bass)
Chris Bloomfield (Drums)

School of Desire performs songs from the classic American songbook of the mid-twentieth century (classics by composers such as George Gershwin, Jerome Kern and Cole Porter), as well as some well-known and not so well-known bossa nova numbers from Brazil. They play in a relaxed and approachable style.

The name “School of Desire” refers to the fact that so many of these songs are about love, loss, and longing – but, of course, they also have their moments of exhilaration and joy.

ROUGE 92

Rouge92 is an up-and-coming, soulful jazz piano and singing duo, Leanne and Bruce. They enjoy covering old-school tunes as well as giving a jazzy twist to modern-day pop songs. Expect an evening of exciting Jazz entertainment!

They’ll be joining us once a month Friday nights!

EAST WEST SEXTET

The East West Sextet perform a relaxing and varied mix of classic jazz standards, ranging from latin and bossa nova tunes written by the likes of Carlos Jobim to familiar jazz ballads and swing numbers from the 1940’s onwards.

The regular line-up includes Pete Lyons (tenor sax), Mark Phillips (trumpet), Nikash Hurkoo (guitar), Harriet Hu (piano), Rob Miller (double bass) and Felix Schott (drums).

Just perfect for a leisurely Sunday lunchtime’s entertainment in the Café Bar!
