FAQs:
When is it?
You have a choice of three separate groups to be a part of. We run sessions on Tuesday evenings, Thursday mornings or Saturday mornings. All groups are the same. There is also the chance for all group members to see at least one Omnibus show for free.
How often does the course run?
The course runs every season. Dates will be announced when submissions open for each course. The dates for the 2025 courses will be during: Feb-Mar (Spring), Jun-Jul (Summer) and Oct-Nov (Autumn).
What kind of project can I bring?
We welcome any kind of play you’re developing. Whether a play for one performer or an ensemble of 20, and any length; bring a project that you’ve been itching to work on. Whilst this course may cover aspects relevant to all kinds of writing, please note this course focuses on writing for theatre, not for the screen or novels.
How do I apply?
A link to the application form will be on this page when submissions open for each season. The application is very simple, we only ask for a bit of info about you, your project, and why you think being on the course would benefit you and your work.
Who can apply?
Anyone can apply! Whether you’ve never written a play, or have written five, we love groups to have a variety of members with different experiences and backgrounds. The course looks at the fundamental elements of playwriting, meaning the course may not be beneficial for a very experienced writer. Previously writers have used the course to help guide them to start writing their first play, or some experienced writers have used the course to help deconstruct their play to aid a re-draft.
Why do I need to apply?
We would love as many people as possible to be on the course. However we are only able to offer a limited number of places per group. For this reason, the application form is designed to give us an idea of who the course will benefit the most. If someone is unsuccessful in applying, then we absolutely encourage people to reapply for the next course. You are welcome to submit a video application if preferred.
