BRIEF PLAY ABOUT RAGE

PRESENTED BY DEANE McELREE
It’s just one evening. How unbearable could a house guest possibly be?

Nell and Val have been friends for many years. Val has hated Nell for most of them, but has never had the courage to say anything.

When Nell comes to visit Val and her boyfriend Hugh in their apartment, she is immediately rude, loud, and drinks around a dozen glasses of water. Nell’s provocations become more cutting as she asserts a brutal crusade of truth upon polite society, disrupting Val and Hugh’s carefully maintained peace and exposing parts of each other’s lives that they would rather keep hidden.

Val has never stated the deep resentment she feels towards Nell. Hugh and Val have never shared certain parts of themselves with each other. So what happens when someone finally says everything out loud?

Brief Play About Rage is an absurd comedy of menace, set over one excruciating evening, about unspoken resentments and the beautiful violence of saying exactly what you mean.

Nominated for Best New Play and Best Lead Performance at the Fringe Theatre Awards 2025/2026.

Nominated for Best of Camden Fringe at Everything Theatre’s Etties awards 2025.
