Join Off The Chest for a Sunday filled with poetry goodness. This inclusive event invites you to perform on their renowned open mic, plus the chance to see internationally acclaimed poet and performer Georgie Jones, who will be sharing poems from her acclaimed debut collection.
Off The Chest’s mission is to give a platform to poets of diverse backgrounds and celebrate original voices in the UK poetry scene. You can sign up to perform on the open mic on the day. Plus, there will be plenty of chances for you to meet the poets and connect with fellow creatives throughout the event.
Hosted by acclaimed poets Ella Dorman-Gajic and Iftikhar Latif, Off The Chest has been creating spaces for poetry since 2019 through events, workshops and at festivals across the UK, including All Points East and Love Supreme. They’ve programmed the very best in poetry talent and have previously sold out venues. In 2024, they published their inaugural anthology, Spaces of Significance, which was described as “breathtaking” by Amy Acre.
Find out more about headliner, Georgie Jones….
Georgie Jones is a poet and performer praised for her ‘formidable stage presence and compelling way with words’. A Roundhouse Slam finalist and BBC Words First alum, she has toured the UK, garnered millions of views online and *nearly* performed with Pitbull (a technicality she refuses to dwell on). Her debut collection And The World Spins Anyway is a love letter to real life, however it shows up; an exploration of the exquisite messiness of modern existence in which Georgie, with her signature wit and warmth, makes the chaos feel, somehow, quite comforting.
