COMEDY WRITING & COLLABORATION WORKSHOP

PRESENTED BY AMY YEO & HANNAH ROGERSON
Join us in a space for women and gender non-conforming people of all experience levels to chat comedy and workshop material and ideas in a supportive, collaborative environment.

The workshop will be split roughly into two halves. The first section will be more presentation based where Hannah and Amy will impart all the lessons they’ve learnt from all the mistakes they’ve made, explore the impact of their working relationship and discuss how failing is an essential part of comedy (they hope). In the second section, they’ll open the floor – this is the time for you to bring your undeveloped ideas, the sketches you can’t find the ending for, or just your favourite jokes from TV/film/Stand-up for the group to discuss, workshop or learn from.

This event will be led by Hannah Rogerson and Amy Yeo. Hannah and Amy first met at a Freshers Week event for their University Comedy Society, a society they would both separately go on to be president of. During their time at university, they worked on multiple projects together, most notably A Completely Normal Comedy Night, a sell out show entirely produced and starring women and non-binary comics.

Since leaving university Hannah and Amy have worked individually within the industry, Hannah as a stand-up and improviser and Amy as a writer. Most recently, Hannah directed Crash and Burns, a play written by Amy, for the Edinburgh Fringe 2023 where it was received with critical acclaim. Amy and Hannah worked incredibly closely during this particular project and feel that that played a significant role in its success. They feel that one of the biggest lessons they have learnt from working together is the value of collaboration.
