DURATIONAL DEVIATION

HYBRID RESIDENCY ARTIST: ABA NAIA
Part of Get On The Internet!

We begin a movement or an action and deviate its route, producing a line whose direction is always forward. There is no repetition. Straight forward, accepting every disruption along the way. Watch us and observe where we allow ourselves to be led. Become the voyeur of our path.

For our online performance live-stream, the audience is invited to watch a process of deviations. We will directly encounter and work with “mistakes” along the way in order to challenge discomfort and failure. For example: if I begin to make a step, which (other) path does this step take with or without my direct will?

Our creations, transported through the networks of cyberspace, acknowledge the physical and technical world simultaneously. What will be transported from our bodily performance to your screens is unpredictable. Although, if we set a goal for this showcase of our creative process, we would call it An Examination of the Weakness of the Present in Favor of Comedy.

The audience may enter and engage in the performance process at ANY given time between 5pm-9pm (GMT) and witness the current state of the performers/performance. The only guidelines that the performers follow is a cognitive process, in which we are always asking ourselves, what happens with me, when I notice that something is going wrong.

ABA NAIA is a Berlin-based latin-american-european performance collective. With our method of post-porn-clowning we question gender normativity and its expectations, as well as the myths and stereotypes around femininity and desire.
