Toby starred in the series alongside Monica Dolan and Julie Hesmondhalgh to critical acclaim, receiving wide praise for its depictions of the scandal and those involved. In 2025 Toby takes a leading role in the highly anticipated ITV phone hacking drama series THE HACK. Toby will star opposite David Tenant in the series. Toby will then also lead opposite Lesley Manville and Harry Lawtey in MR BURTON and A CRUEL LOVE: THE RUTH ELLIS STORY, for ITV, alongside Lucy Boynton.

Toby also took on the role of ‘Basil’ in INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY, opposite Harrison Ford. Further recent onscreen credits include Sam Mendes’ EMPIRE OF LIGHT alongside Olivia Colman, THE PALE BLUE EYE for Netflix, based on Louis Bayard’s novel of the same name, THE LONG SHADOW for ITV and THE WONDER, opposite Florence Pugh. He will next appear on screen in Duke Johnson’s THE ACTOR, based on the 2010 novel Memory by Donald E. Westlake and THE INSTIGATORS for Apple TV+, opposite Matt Damon.
