JAZZ IN THE PRESENT TENSE:HARRY TREVILLION TRIO

PRESENTED BY GW JAZZ

Flautist Harry Trevillion, has in recent years, emerged as one of the most exciting young talents on the London Jazz scene. An Alumnus of the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, he’s beginning to carve out a name for himself with his unique style and creative approach. His music is an enthralling fusion of conventional and experimental elements and his works defy genre by using intricate rhythms, unusual harmonies and surprising melodic turns. He incorporates a sense of spontaneity and improvisation into his music by drawing inspiration from a diverse array of sources.

He teams up with fellow Guildhall alumni Francisco Garcia de Paredes and Mark McQuillan as a jazz trio, with extensive experience collaborating with world-class musicians like Steam Down, Mackwood, Lorenz Okello, and Gareth Lockrane, in addition to performing across London’s prestigious jazz clubs (Ronnie Scott’s, Pizza Express SOHO, Spice of Life etc) and the UK’s top-tier music festivals (Love Supreme, We Out Here, Cross the Tracks, EFG London Jazz Festival etc)- the three musicians are definitely no strangers to the genre of jazz. This concert brings together their compositional influences for an evening of original compositions and jazz repertoire.

OUT OF THE SHADOWS

An evening of music by Brixton-based contemporary classical composer Robert Hugill for Pride 2024
Following their premiere last year, they feature two cantatas that take us from the twilight world of the 19th & early 20th century homosexual to a desperate search for eternal life, alongside songs celebrating love in all forms. The searing drama Scarlet Sunday explores the blurred lines between art and its creators, questioning our complicity in idolising their creations.
