James Girling: Quarteto de Bossa Nova
This is an unmissable celebration of Brazil and Bossa Nova: the intimate fusion of samba and jazz, conceived on the beaches of Rio de Janeiro in the late 1950’s. James Girling (guitar) brings his quartet to Omnibus for a hip-swaying, foot-tapping night of rhythmical magic. Featuring Caitlin Laing (voice/flute/tenor sax), Daniel Addison (voice/double bass) and Josh Savage (percussion).
James formed this quartet with the aim of sharing a specific era of Brazilian Bossa Nova, with stylistic authenticity. Lyrics are sung in the original Portuguese, respecting their nuance as pieces of Brazilian poetry.
