THIS BLIGHTED STAR

PRESENTED BY COGGIA PRODUCTIONS
Ivan is missing. With nothing but fragments of CCTV for clues, a friend longs to discover the truth.

Ivan is missing. With nothing but fragments of CCTV for clues, a friend longs to discover the truth.

During a stiflingly hot summer, Ivan’s disappearance stirs a small midlands town as anxiety builds and conspiracies swirl. Within the chatter, a lone CCTV operator feels he has the answers, or at least the clues, to where Ivan could possibly be.

Snapshots of video forge with fragments of memory to create an uncertain path. As the truth gradually comes to light, high above a new star burns brighter than the rest. A glimmer of hope? Or more uncertainty? Past and future collide as this one friend is determined to uncover the truth, not only about Ivan, but also their friendship.

Performer and Writer Alfie Jones brings his debut play This Blighted Star to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, directed by Alice Harding (Flicker, Soho Theatre). This tense yet endearing play asks what hides in the places where we’re all too scared to look?

Underbelly, George Square. 30th July – 24th Aug. 3:45pm.
