Part of our Vault Festival Transfer Season
Inspired by personal experiences of mental collapse, 1001 is a devised exploration that brings attention to the unbearable pressure of the capitalist system that we are conditioned to inhabit – whether we like it, or not. To survive in capitalism, work is essential, work is part of an identity. If you don’t work, you cease to be. Is there an alternative?
1001 is a desperate plea for rest. It is an attempt to resist the exploitation, the routine and the weight of “required” success.
The show blurs boundaries between theatre, dance and performance art. The exhaustion you see on stage is raw and truthful, it is not an act.
This performance will take place with a live audience at Omnibus Theatre.
