The Telling will be at Omnibus Theatre this season with Into The Melting Pot. Into the Melting Pot brings to life an incredible fusion of sounds. World music meets folk meets medieval, complete with Arabic and ancient instruments like the oud, medieval harp, recorder & frame drum.
Ahead of their show, we asked The Telling’s Clare Norburn to tell us her top 5 female artists of all time. Boy did she deliver!
Yasmin Levy
An amazing mesmeric performer of Sephardic Jewish songs, some of which are featured in Into the Melting Pot – this is one of my favourites.
KD Lang
Here she is singing Smoke Rings. She has such amazing control over her voice in this number.
Ariana Savall
Simply a beautiful performance of one of my favourite Sephardic songs from Into the Melting Pot
Angela Hicks
Singing a folky-style Christmas carol with the amazing group Joglaresa led by the equally amazing Belinda Sykes who does inspirational arrangements of medieval music.
Emma Kirkby
Emma is an extraordinary singer, she’s been incredibly supportive to me in my career. The Telling sings a lot of Hildegard’s music – so this is a must in my top 5!
