The toe-tapping, Country-loving boys of Badback Mountain are back at Omnibus Theatre (grand ol’ Omni…lololol get it?) this July to preview their show The Rockford File, an homage to 1970s TV Private Eye Jim Rockford, filtered through the lens of classic Ealing comedies and brilliant live roots music.
And if you can’t wait until July, check out Badback Mountain rockin’ country maestro Liam Grundy’s personal Hall of Fame.
George Jones
The greatest voice in Country. The intensity of his vocal performance is incredible, his phrasing and pitch immaculate. Like so many veteran Country artists, he’s been no stranger to controversy.
Junior Brown
Semi Crazy indeed! Junior plays the ‘Guit-Steel’ which he invented. He calls it ‘Big Red’. Songs he co-writes with his wife and business manager Tanya Rae include My Wife Thinks You’re Dead and Venom Wearing Denim and can liven up the dullest party. Hey Junior don’t hang it up!
Hank Williams
Took country music into the bars and the lives of ordinary people. The first superstar. Lost Highway, I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry, Jambalaya (On The Bayou) – these are just some of the great Hank Williams hits. Go listen to some more!
Jerry Lee Lewis
Jerry was Outlaw Country before Waylon and Willie and the boys brought it into town. Jerry is still is not in the Country Music Hall Of Fame despite having many number one country albums. Controversy has walked beside him. Born Country and raised of Rock n Roll he has managed to alienate most of the Country Music establishment. A serious rapscallion. His heart and soul belongs to Jimmie Rodgers – someone else to check out!
Brennen Leigh
Laid back singer of great sophistication and charm. Intensely musical with a feel for the traditional.
Dolly Parton
A great singer and hugely talented writer with impeccable musical taste.
Alison Krauss
Wonderful musician and beautiful singer who, with Jerry Douglas, creates High Art with her band Union Station.
Bob Wills
Now Bob Wills is still the king. Whether or not you’re in Austin Texas. Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys. Outrageously smart and slick. Brilliant songs too. It’s Western Swing you see!
Johnny Cash
Deep as the Big River. Johnny Cash could out-write, out-perform and inspire anyone and everyone. Which is exactly what he did, and continues to do.
The Rockford File presented by Badback Mountain will be at Omnibus Theatre on July 22 2018 – grab your tickets HERE
