Omnibus Lists | Heloise Werner’s Top 5 Songs

By October 16, 2018No Comments

Heloise Werner is a founding member (vocals/cello) of The Coach House Company, who will be filling The Common Room with folk-inspired tunes this Sunday.

Original compositions and arrangements form the core of this five-piece band’s repertoire, with influences from ceilidh, classical and jazz. According to Varsity Magazine, “you really have to go and see them”. And who are we to argue?

This week it’s Heloise’s turn to step up to the plate with a tricky top 5.

“5 top songs! Only 5?! Argh that’s hard – but I’ll give it a go…”

Rainy Night House

Joni Mitchell
I was touring beautiful Scotland with my (other) band The Hermes Experiment back in February and we listened to a lot of Joni Mitchell in the car. At one point, my friend Oli said: “let me play you my favourite Joni Mitchell song” – and he played me this one. I think it’s now my favourite Joni Mitchell song too!

For Once In My Life

Stevie Wonder
Basically anything by Stevie Wonder – but I’m going to pick this one.

Dis, quand reviendras-tu?

Barbara
I grew up listening to Barbara, and I still listen to her songs A LOT, especially when I feel a bit down. She was one of the best lyricists of all times.

The Hill of Thieves

Cara Dillon
We did a cover of this song with The Coach House Company a few years back – with Maya singing and two guitars. So lovely. Maybe we’ll perform it at Omnibus, who knows!

Taken

Anna Meredith
Check out Anna Meredith’s album ‘Varmints’, it’s brilliant. And see her band live if you can, totally amazing.

Coach House Company will be at Omnibus Theatre 21 Oct as part of our Sunday Music programme – get your tickets HERE→
