On Clapham Common’s doorstep, Omnibus Theatre was the setting of research for Body Politic’s brand new work THEM; which tackles consent rape and misogyny. Following from the outpour of grief and anger surrounding Sarah Everard’s murder, we are fuelled by the violence against the women who we don’t hear about. Blessing Olusegun, Nicole Smallman, Bibaa Henry are just three names.
Learning and sharing together, we will hear from sexual abuse crisis expert Sophie Knowles (OSARCC), as well as collaborator and poet Deanna Rodger. We will question the responsibility put on women and girls to have to change, or curate their personalities. We will explore the messages our actions send to young people.
The evening will culminate with the exclusive preview of the film It’s not the fire. Performed by L’atisse Rhoden (choreographer and Sadler’s Wells New Wave Artist) and filmed by Alice Underwood with a score by Deanna Rodger.
