Lemon Jelly’s Fred Deakin hosts an interactive joy-ride through his 80s/90s crazy clubland adventures. Travel back in time to help Fred and his five-strong cast recreate his classic club nights and bring the fashion tribes of the late 20th century back to life. Or just watch!

Over two and a half hours this innovative show moves between performance and club mode. Dancing is welcome but all participation is entirely optional and the show can be fully enjoyed without getting out of your seat.

Cast

Abbie Kane

Abbie Kane graduated with a BA (Hons) in Musical Theatre in 2022. During training, she played notable roles such as Sarah in Guys and Dolls and Fraulein Schneider in Cabaret. Post-graduation, she’s performed in various productions, including pantomimes, and was part of the National Theatre’s An Inspector Calls at the Festival Theatre. With a deep interest for dance, movement, and fashion, Abbie Kane is excited to bring these elements to life in this immersive clubbing theatre experience.

Ben Standish

Ben Standish is an actor and director based between London and Glasgow. Originally studying French and Chinese, he subsequently worked as an arts journalist in France and as a theatre director in China before training at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Since graduating he has worked on various stage and screen projects for Sony Pictures, the Traverse, the Tron, a Play, a Pie & a Pint, Camden People’s Theatre, Mull Theatre, Glastonbury Festival, Oily Cart, and Vanishing Point. Ben is an associate artist of the National Youth Theatre and Compass Collective.

Camila López

Cami is a Venezuelan / Spanish actor-singer, born and raised in Caracas. She just graduated from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with a BA in musical theatre, having also trained in acting for screen in different schools in Madrid. She’s bilingual in Spanish and English, and plays guitar and clarinet. She recently played the role of Esmeralda in Captivate Theatre’s production of ‘The Hunchback of Notre Dame’ at
the Edinburgh Fringe this summer. Credits whilst in training include Little Red in ‘Into the Woods’, Robby the Stockfish & U/S Pennywise in ‘Urinetown’ and Carmen in ‘Sweet Charity’

Fred Deakin

A multidisciplinary artist, Fred Deakin is best known as half of the Mercury/Brit nominated electronica duo Lemon Jelly who have sold over half a million albums, toured extensively and headlined stages at Glastonbury, Reading and Leeds. In his twenties and thirties Fred ran a series of innovative club nights, then founded the ground-breaking digital design studio Airside. He became Professor of Digital Arts at the University of the Arts London in 2013. Over the last decade his company FANDCO have produced many award-winning projects blending music, theatre, technology and improvisation, which can be seen at https://freddeak.in/

Lily Carmen Smith

Lily Carmen Smith is a multidisciplinary artist and performer who began performing with Glasgow based companies Mischief-La-Bas and Junction 25. She graduated from The University of Glasgow in Theatre Studies in 2019, and has since developed projects involving writing, performance, sound and collage, predominantly for public spaces, while continuing to work as a freelance performer in outdoor arts and in projects such as Club Life, as well as as a drag performer. She is currently undertaking a 2 year superior formation in Art in public space in Marseille, France, where she is developing a practice of writing ‘with’ public space

Price Jones

Price graduated from the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) in 2017 with a degree in Acting. Whilst training he discovered that physical theatre is an area of particular interest and he’s thrilled to have been asked to live his best Club Life, which has been an excellent gateway back into the world of physical theatre. Most recently dipped his toes into the world of musical theatre for the first time as Zacky
Price in Big Fish.

Michael Barker

Theatre credits include The House With Chicken Legs (Les Enfants Terribles), Jack and the Beanstalk (Hopscotch Theatre), Paddington Marmalade Messiness (Histrionic Productions), High School Musical (Shoogly Peg Productions), Rent (Edinburgh University Footlights), Spring Awakening (Shoogly Peg Productions) and Dogfight (Room 29). Screen credits include Sound of the Somme (Gypsy Productions), CC Emily (Focus Features/Working Title/Parkville Pictures), Women’s Aid 50th Anniversary (Merman), Princess Mirror-Belle (BBC Children’s), Outlander (Sony/Left Bank) and Logan High (Chalkboard TV for BBC). Michael trained at the University of Glasgow and has an MA in Theatre
Studies.
