DEER LIFE

COMPANY GABRIELLE MOLETA AS PART OF THE OVER IT! REVOLUTION
It’s about deer. It’s about us.

Company Gabrielle Moleta is creating new work around the life cycle of the herd and of the stories within the herd. Deer are their focus, the stories however are very human. You might have caught their piece Celebrating the Wild as part of International Women’s Day events at Omnibus in 22. There they took to the streets in song! In Deer Life you will follow them, part promenade style from Clapham Common to the Common Room inside Omnibus Theatre.

Deer Life– It’s dangerous out in the open grassland. Just you.

Better in the dark forest. Or lost in the crowd. The collective transcends, after all. Transcends status, transcends sex, transcends self.

Deer Life– It’s a new piece about the cycle of life in a herd. It’s about the animals in it- strong-hooved, antlered, powerful, delicate. Of the earth and of the air. It’s about them. And about us.

Deer Life is inspired by many stories: Felix Salten’s shocking Bambi; Deer Man: Seven years of Living in the Forest, by Geoffroy Delorme; The Buck, by Sr Johanna Caton; Helen MacDonald’s ‘Deer in the Headlights’.

The piece will culminate with a Deer dance… of sorts!
