DELUGE

CONCEIVED AND PERFORMED BY GABRIELA FLARYS
DIRECTED BY ANDREA MACIEL
A captivating and comedic piece of magical realism about loss: blending true stories with fiction, movement, text, comedy and live music.

In the wake of a relationship, a woman circles the drain, sifting through other people’s stories in an attempt to contain the overflow of her thoughts. But something’s blocked, and to make matters worse, there are leaks to fix in her house. It was meant to be a quick job, but the holes just keep getting bigger.

The water is rising.

Deluge is a captivating and comedic piece of magical realism about the things we lose and how we grieve them. The dramaturgy lies over interviews with people wondering: “who am I in the wake of a loss?”. Blending true stories with fiction, movement with text, and comedy with live music. Blurring imagination with reality by invoking a surreal, tender and humorous dreamscape that touches simultaneously on the intensely personal and the universal aspects of loss and how we live with it.
