Hot Cousin met and formed in London in 2018, worked together in one room for a year and a bit, and then many things happened. Visas ran out, there were losses and babies and new jobs and depressions and Acts of God, and we ended up on three different continents in three different time zones. We didn’t see any of this as a reason to stop working together.
Over the past couple of years we’ve developed a Hybrid working practice that is the opposite of how we worked before. We create in our bedrooms over voice notes and shared google docs. We make things separately, and come together for the snatches of time when we’re all awake. One of us has an idea, goes to sleep, and wakes up to it transformed. And the whole thing starts again.
Join us for the 24 hour Hot Cousin Mystery Party, on the internet and live in the theatre. Ideas will start from Ally’s bed in Ohio, make their way over to Elana and Steph in Omnibus Theatre before finally landing on Maddy’s laptop in Brisbane at 4am. We really don’t know what it will be about yet. But as Agatha Christie said “always bear in mind that the person who speaks may be lying”. Drop in at any time to contribute to the work or catch us in the act and see what we’ve made.
