Introducing our 2020 Summer Season | Marie McCarthy

By February 28, 2020No Comments

A very warm welcome to our magnificent seventh summer season at Omnibus Theatre. Our programme of events and productions switches up from May through to August, reflecting the vibrant energy of Summer, and for me and the team, this means festivals, four of them, of all kinds, for all people.

Behind all these shows are performers who are all challenging perceptions and taking artistic risks. We hope their work inspires you. Please do come and join us and be part of the creative buzz at Omnibus Theatre as we open up our multiple theatre spaces, throw open our café/bar doors and embrace the season ahead.

SMALL CHANGE

Set on the east side of Cardiff in the 1950s and ‘70s, Peter Gill’s poetic masterpiece is an intricate exploration of boyhood, the relationships between mothers and sons and the search for truth.

LADYKILLER

A hotel room, a chambermaid and a dead woman. It’s not what it looks like, really, it’s not. It was self-defence…and anyway the woman was asking for it.

A WELL MADE PLAY

A theatrical high wire act, A Well Made Play is created anew every time it is performed by a company of experienced improvisers.

ANGRY YELLOW WOMAN

Ever wondered if you’re a racist, right-wing, white cis man?

96 FESTIVAL

Back by popular demand! 96 Festival is our annual celebration of queerness and theatre.

WOOD

1983. San Fernando Valley. John Rolando is the glittering porn star of the moment. But when he fails to get it up, his life – and the play – begins to unravel.

DEM TIMES

A comedy drama which follows the re-education of a British-born trouble maker who finds himself on a plane back to Ghana.

WILD COUNTRY

An intimate and absurd exploration of motherhood, exile and transformation.

EDINBURGH PREVIEWS

Get one jump ahead of the fringe this Summer at Omnibus Theatre.

ENGINE ROOM

Innovative new artists present daring new work, in front of an audience for the first time.

AT THE FEET OF JESUS

A vibrant and provocative new play told through the storytelling of Brazilian Candomblé tradition.

NOTHING IN A BUTTERFLY

A visceral odyssey from flying fists in Tyneside to hard sales in Dubai.

OUT OF THE WINGS

A festival of theatre from the Spanish and Portuguese speaking world.

GRASSHOPPER FESTIVAL

A crop of critically acclaimed family theatre makers will dig in at Omnibus Theatre.
