2022 at Omnibus Theatre
As 2022 draws to a close, we are looking back at another amazing year at Omnibus Theatre. Watch the roundup video below and scroll down for an in-depth look at some of the projects that have made 2022 so special.
Nearly 13,000 of you attended the 113 shows that took to our stages this year. Back in January we rehomed 13 shows following the sad cancellation of VAULT Festival 2022. We went on to produce 4 in-house shows and co-productions, taking 2 to Edinburgh Fringe Festival this past August. Shows in our artistic programme have earned 7 award nominations and Omnibus Theatre is a finalist for Fringe Theatre of the Year in The Stage Awards.
In 2022, our learning and participation projects engaged over 1,200 of our local community members across 12 projects. An essential strand of our work is also nurturing the next generation of exceptional artists. Through our artist support programmes we have supported 43 artists. Support has included over 220 hours of free rehearsal space and 72 hours of dedicated dramaturgical support. This resulted in the highest number of submissions we have ever seen for the Spring 2023 edition of our flagship artist support scheme Engine Room – 117.
As an independent theatre, seeing our venue full again is greatest gift we could ask for. In 2023 we have loads more in store for you, including new shows, artist development opportunities, and new ways to get involved.
Happy New Year! We look forward to welcoming you back at Omnibus Theatre again in 2023!
Thank you for support – 2022 would not have been the same without you!
As a registered charity, Omnibus Theatre receives no regular guaranteed funding. Without your support, our work would quite simply be impossible. We are grateful for any support, big or small – if you would like to make a donation you can do so below.
