ARTIST TESTIMONIALS:

Engine Room is the exact thing that we emerging artists need right now, especially those of us who are a part of marginalised communities. Having the time and space to experiment and fail safely is invaluable. Personally, I feel so honoured to have been selected and grateful for the opportunity. I was able to rehearse, workshop, have a private reading, and get audience feedback all for free, which is truly incredible. I am so happy that Engine Room exists and would like to thank anyone who has made it a possibility.

IN CASE YOU THOUGHT YOU HAD NO ADDICTIONS, HERE IS A LIST

PRESENTED BY LUNACAT PRODUCTIONS

What you see as a chain, I see as a seatbelt. You see a leash, I see a hand to hold. If I’m a painting, I’ve found a frame.

Joanie and Twig – once inseparable twin sisters, identical in every way. Except Joanie’s been ill her whole life. Now, Joanie’s mysterious illness has led to drastic surgery and a subsequent move into Twig and caustic, proudly working-class fiancée Audrey’s home for recovery.

In this compulsive, darkly comic two-hander, lines between health and sickness, truth and deceit blur in front of our eyes. Difficult conversations between Twig and Audrey, intertwine with snapshots of an intrusive online world, sidling up to that undeniably intriguing affliction: Munchausen’s Syndrome.

SCAFFOLDING

PRESENTED BY DOCUMENTAL PRODUCTIONS

Today is a bad day.

Sheridan is reeling from the news that her beloved Church will close, until she decides to sidestep the vicar and take matters straight to the boss: God.

She climbs the steeple’s scaffolding to have a frank conversation about her complicated life as a carer and her dark plans to save the Church once and for all.

“Intriguing, subtle and engaging and FUNNY. Very, very funny.” – Molly Naylor

From the multi-award-winning team at Documental Theatre SCAFFOLDING is a life-affirming interrogation of hope and community in the most unique of two-handers.

BARKING MAD

PRESENTED BY SAM MACGREGOR

Based upon the writers real life experiences of working for NHS111 in East London, Barking Mad is a comedy drama that tells the story of 4 members of staff following an unexpected death during a routine call.

We follow 3 Health Advisers and a nurse as they deal with the public backlash of a patient death during a routine health assessment. Their livelihoods and jobs are in disrepute as this debacle falls under the public eye and questions the effectiveness and future of the NHS.

B24 – THE BALLAD OF BEAUTIFUL HEATHES

PRESENTED BY SEAN CROFT

Sean Croft’s company of theatre makers, dancers and playful souls re-imagines this murder filled short story written by Arthur Conan Doyle and throws it firmly into the modern day.

Using, Ensemble based physical theatre, spatial dramaturgy and cinematic theatre making to bring this film noir revenge story to life.

Exploring what happens when people are pushed to the edges of society and the choices they are then forced to make to survive, uncovering both the beautiful and the heathenous in us all, when we’re pushed to the very edge.

Prisoner no. B24 is sentenced to death for the murder of the rich and well established Lord Mannering. They have one final chance to recount their story and their journey of events, accusing the wife of the Lord for the murder.

The question is, who’s telling the truth?
