NAAG NOOL

PRESENTED BY MARYAM GARAD
This is an intergenerational play exploring motherhood and how generational traumas are passed on.

In 2002, after Amina discovers she is pregnant she is disowned by her mother and entire community, feeling lost she tries to reach out to her fiancé who has been ignoring her phone calls. She finds a way to get his attention and embarks on a journey to the UK.

Meanwhile in present-day London, we meet an older Amina who has established a life for herself in the UK with her daughter. Her daughter is now at university trying to find herself similarly to her mother. She goes against her “cultural ways” when she struggles to be the perfect daughter because of her sexuality.
